HELP CONQUER CHILDHOOD CANCER!

Indiana Jones isn’t the only person on a quest this summer! Richmonders can join Connor’s Heroes and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in the ‘Quest’ to cure childhood cancer by participating in a combined day of unique and fun events. For the second year, families, friends, and corporate teams have the opportunity to don their fedora and use treasure maps, clues, and cool gadgets to race through Carytown and be the first to solve the secrets of the Anthem “Quest for the Cure” beginning at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 21. The Quest will come to an exciting close at the Richmond Kickers game that evening against the Harrisburg City Islanders at University of Richmond Stadium.

“The Quest’s treasure hunt and the Kickers game are great entertainment for adults and children alike, and a fun way to raise funds for a much more important ques —the quest to end suffering from childhood cancer,” said Lisa Goodwin, co-founder of Connor’s Heroes. “Last year we were pleased with the turn out and this year, we expect more people to participate in both events, so we’d encourage everyone to register teams and buy tickets to the game while they’re still available.”

More than 150 adult, corporate and family teams of up to six participants, equipped by Ravenchase Adventures, will race against each other and the clock, solve riddles and encounter planted actors, use gadgets and creativity to outwit the competition and learn facts about childhood cancer. In addition to the Richmond Kickers game, there will be a Kid Zone, music by Silly Bus, a memory/honor wall, a half-time juggle-a-thon, and other activities.

A portion of the proceeds from the Quest and the Kickers game will benefit the VCU Massey Cancer Center’s Jamie Hess Bone Marrow Transplant Research Fund. In addition to Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Ravenchase Adventures and the Richmond Kickers, other event sponsors include the Carytown Merchants Association, the Goddard School, inRich.com, Lite 98 FM, Romp n’Roll, Sauers, SportsRadio 910 and Style Weekly.
