eighth blackbird,“strange imaginary remix”
Camp Concert Hall, Booker Hall of Music
September 17
In February 2008, eighth blackbird was honored with its first Grammy for the recording strange imaginary animals. Long before the Grammy judges delivered their verdict, our audiences were well aware of the ensemble’s impeccable musicianship and spirited originality. Hailed as the ambassadors of new music, ensemble-in-residence eighth blackbird returns to our performance stage for two concerts this season. For “strange imaginary remix,” guitar picks strum a piano; thimbles appear and strike strings; a clarinet wails wildly, a bass drum roars; and ducks, seagulls, even delivery trucks are evoked in this concert that features works from eighth blackbird’s Grammy Award-winning CD. Sound designer Dennis DeSantis contributes a simultaneous live remix as eighth blackbird performs.
